A/N:
This was written as an entry for the secnd challenge of the Drabble Last Author Standing competition.  The summary above was the challenge prompt.  I didn't get any votes, either for or against, so feedback is especially welcome.

“Favourite childhood game... fighting monsters,” Havrha rasps. “Easier... kill dragons than damn bacteria.”

“You slew a real monster,” he murmurs. The elderly scientist developed the plague antigen too late to save herself.

“Traditional reward... kiss… prince.”

He’s alien, immune. “I’m no prince, but I’d be honoured.” Their lips brush gently.

Rose comforts plague victims. Afterwards, she tries drowning nightmares in brandy. “Doctor? If I was dying, would you kiss me?”

After nine centuries, it still breaks his hearts. Rose... so young. You are dying. You humans start dying the moment you’re born.

He forces a smile. “Silly girl, you’re fine.”

Awww...that was gorgeous. I could totally see the Doctor doing something like that.

General fic challenges are an interesting thing, I'm finding. There's a real culture in Doctor Who fic fandom.

Thanks!

What do you mean by culture in DW fandom?

Well the culture around DW fic is very different than other fandoms, I'm finding.

Really? I'd love to know more, if you're inclined to share your observations.

Hmmm...biggest difference is in betas/not. What you warn for, and what you don't. It seems like the Who fandom is the most relaxed in this regard.
