FIC: The Kitchen Server's Tale (Valiant Tales)

Title: The Kitchen Server's Tale
Series: Valiant Tales.  Read them in order here.
Rating: G
Characters:
The Master (Simm), other characters
Genre: drabble
Spoilers: Minor spoilers for The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords.
Summary: A series of drabbles about the people who lived, worked, and suffered on the Valiant during the Year That Never Was. 100 words according to MS Word.
Disclaimer: The sandbox belongs to RTD and the BBC. I'm just playing here, in the corner, making little sand-TARDISs.
A/N: Another holiday drabble.  Nochebuena is Christmas Eve.  Turron is a kind of almond candy, a traditional Christmas treat in Spain.

Tonight is Nochebuena.  We lowly ones will "feast" on potatoes.  Giovanni is making chips.  (I must save some for Jake.  Jews eat fried potatoes on their holiday.)  Sweets?  The turron that Bob smuggled for me, broken into morsels.  Then we sing.  I learned a French carol for Etienne.

So much to do!  Savannah's jacket needs mending.  I can embroider flowers over the rip.

We live in fear of a wicked king who slaughters the innocent.  Into such a world Our Lord was born.  I thank Him for all my dear friends.  I only wish I had gifts for them.

One of the things that consistently blows me away about your Valiant drabbles is your ability to express completely different voices on such a brief and strictured canvas. Yeah, that's a pretty mixed metaphor ....

Thanks! Compliments, even when delivered in mixed metaphors, are always very welcome.

Wow, once again a wonderful drabble in this series -

We live in fear of a wicked king who slaughters the innocent - great reference!

We live in fear of a wicked king who slaughters the innocent - great reference!

I thought that a good Catholic girl like Carmela would immediately make the connection. I'm glad the reference worked.

Thanks for the review!

I love how your drabbles bring out both the worst and the best in people. I can only imagine what the feast of the Holy Innocents would be like under the Master...

Disasters bring out the best and worst in people. I am grateful that I know that only from history and the news, and not from personal experience.

I can only imagine what the feast of the Holy Innocents would be like under the Master...

I don't know if he'd think it was a great tradition that should be revived, or scorn to imitate someone else's atrocity. The Master can be very creative when he chooses. *shudders*

Moreso than earlier incarnations...

You blew me away.

I huffed and I puffed? :-)

Thank you!
