Author's note:  And another pair of tales...  The Programmer's Tale was originally written and posted during Hanukkah, in December 2008.  I wanted to write a holiday story that reflected my own religious tradition.  Hanukkah, being a holiday that celebrates resistance against a tyrant seemed very appropriate to this series.  (The tale I wrote for Christmas will be in the next batch.)
