Title: The Shuttle Pilot's Tale
Series: Valiant Tales.  Read them in order here.
Rating: G
Characters:
The Master (Simm), other characters
Genre: drabble
Spoilers: Minor spoilers for The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords.
Summary: A series of drabbles about the people who lived, worked, and suffered on the Valiant during the Year That Never Was. 100 words according to MS Word.
Disclaimer: The sandbox belongs to RTD and the BBC. I'm just playing here, in the corner, making little sand-TARDISs.

My job’s important: safely transporting the Master and his administrators between the Valiant and Earth.  I also transfer criminals who’ve earned personal attention from the one they betrayed.  (I must obey the Master.)

Time for the pre-launch sequence.  I  examine every readout.  The new co-pilot performs another check.  Dunno what happened to the other bloke.  Re-education, they said.  (I must obey the Master.)

As my hands move, the console lights reflect off a gold ring on my left hand.  Don’t remember where I got it.  Perhaps I should remove it, so it doesn’t distract me.  (I must obey the Master.)

Yikes. But completely believable.

The Master's hypnotic powers were always very strong, even without the help of the Archangel Network. IIRC, at least one companion tried to kill the Doctor while under the Master's influence.

That's okay. t's Friday. No one should have to be articulate on Fridays.

How sad - and how clever to incorporate the rhythmically repetitive subconscious order. It mimics the very necessarily cyclical nature of brainwashing.

Thank you. Originally, I was going to have the command inserted randomly between sentences, but it seemed to flow better at the end of paragraphs, like the refrain of a song.

Is the ring the pilot doesn't recognize, his wedding ring?

Yes, it is. The Master doesn't like his servants to be distracted by non-essentials.
